Some people can pick up a 2nd language naturally with ease.  For some, correct speech sound acquisition takes extra time and effort.  However, for some children, phonological awareness and processing may not develop as smoothly as others.

The prompt identification and early treatment are the keys to successful outcomes, psychological wellbeing, and lower overall cost of care.

Is your child demonstrates any consistent and persisting difficulties with:

Motor production of speech sounds (articulation problems)?

Phonological processing?

We are a group of certified specialists (SLPs, SLHTs), specialized in treating specific sounds errors typically seen among Japanese-speaking young learners.

We can identify if your child’s speech sound errors are due to cross-linguistic effects or functional and non-developmental speech sound disorders. Given that the observed production errors of your child are merely a representation of variations of speech associated with the Japanese language that your child speaks, the prognosis is typically good.

Examples of Speech Errors Symptoms:

  • Is your child always substitute “b” for “v” or “p” for “f” or “f” for “th”?

  • Is your child consistently omit or delete certain sounds (e.g, “ca” for “car” or “shix” for “six”)?

  • Is it difficult for most listeners to understand our child’s spontaneous speech?
